The exhibits in this specialist museum tell the story of Denmark’s railway and ferry transport history from 1844 to present time. The exhibition spreads over 5000 square metres and includes railway carriages and locomotive engines, both steam and diesel, from the 1850’s onwards. There is a major exhibition of Royal railway saloon carriages. Subordinate to the Danish Railway Museum is an organisation called DSB Museum Trains, which restores and maintains carriages and locomotives, and is responsible for the running of these trains. The museum is owned by DSB – The Danish State Railways – but is supported financially by Banedanmark (Rail Net Denmark).
The exhibition is located in Odense where it is also managed.
