The mission of The Blood Donors in Denmark (BiD) is to promote voluntary, non-remunerated blood donation and to protect the interests of the blood donors. The goal is to ensure that voluntary, non-remunerated donors needed are available everywhere in Denmark – at any given time - to make sure that all hospitals are fully sufficient in blood and bloodproducts.

The organization is made up of 75 local donor associations. They work on a voluntary, unpaid basis to recruit and retain the country's 230.000 blood donors.
