It is a great pleasure for me to visit EXPO 2010 in Shanghai, the greatest EXPO ever in history. Denmark is very happy to participate in this impressive event.

You are hosting a very successful EXPO to the full satisfaction of the participants and to the great honour of China.

Being at EXPO 2010 is a truly global experience.

Our participation in EXPO 2010 Shanghai is the strongest ever - in terms of economy and participation from public and private investors.

We have chosen to display The Little Mermaid at the Danish pavilion. Not only as ambassador for Denmark but also as a symbol of the strong bonds between Denmark and China. Denmark was one of the first countries to build diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China 60 years ago. I am happy to see that more than half a century later our ties are still growing stronger.

I see my visit in the light of the excellent relations between our countries. It is my sincere hope that EXPO 2010 will contribute to strengthening the bonds between our two nations even further.

I am looking very much forward to my visit to the magnificent China Pavilion later today. I am convinced that it will be a wonderful and memorable experience.

We see it as an honor and a privilege to contribute to further enhancing our relations in the future.
